  • Belgrade Sword Day 2024 - Meyer's 4 types of fencers Workshop

"Within his 1570 book ‘The Art Of Combat’ Joachim Meyer presents a comprehensive fencing system meant for a variety of contexts exemplified through a number of different weapons such as longsword, dussack, rappier, dagger, staff, halberd and pike. Within this he also goes over rapier and dagger, as well as cape, some wrestling and denotes that the dussack is a stand in for any single handed cutting weapon. These are all present in their own sections of the book but build on top of each other. Lessons from one are to be distilled into principles to be applied across the entire system. This workshop utilizes elements of the rapier section for a general approach to fencing, be it with a longsword, rapier or any other weapon. Within the summary of his general rapier section before he delves into dagger, Meyer talks about the four types of fencers, how they fence in a general sense, but also gives us advice on how to fence against them." Through out this workshop we shall attempt to exemplify these four types of fencers, as well as the lessons on how to deal with them. Held by Aleksandar Ristić, Đorđe Rosić

  • Cyprus at the CHC 2025: KDF basics and ecological approaches primer full day seminar

This workshop consisted on one side of going through all the varied guards shown in Meyer's 1570 work and the basic movements behind the so called maisterhaus, then onto how to appropriately use the 'Meyer square' and more importantly the principles of attacking the openings behind it. Differential learning methodology was applied to all this. Afterwards the goal was to apply these in a number of specifically designed CLA games. The end was finished with working on thrusts as they are a common feature of both historical KDF and modern day fencing practice. Held by Aleksandar Ristić

  • Ars Ensis Hungarian Summer Training Camp 2025 - Let's Focus Up Workshop

"Workshop meant to help folks practice maintaning patience, focus and composure during fencing for overall skill and competition Each exercise is meant to be used primarily to teach the exercise format that participants can then apply longterm. Each exercise is meant to train a part of the necessary focus to be able to fence at a higher level, be it during competitions or sparring. While these exercises can be used by beginners too, they’re usually more useful for intermediate and advanced fencers. Aside from the exercises the workshop focused on keeping our breathing in check, as well as body mindfulness exercises, or other therapeutic tools that might be originally meant for other purposes but can be used to center ourselves during or in between fencing exchanges. " Held by Aleksandar Ristić
